Tea polyphenols (green tea polyphenols) are the main component of tea, accounting for 30% of dry matter. GTP is extracted from tea residues (tea powder, tea slices, coarse old tea or pruned leaves). Due to the use of food ethyl acetate extraction, the original structure of GTP is retained, resulting in a light yellow powder. The main component is composed of catechins, accounting for 60% to 80% of GTP content, including 4% to 6% of epicatechin (L-EC) * 6% to 8% of epigallocatechin (D.L-EC), 10% to 15% of epigallocatechin (L-EGC), 50% to 60% of epigallocatechin gallate (L-ECG), and 8% to 10% of caffeine.
Epigallocatechin Gallic acid (EGCG) is the most effective antioxidant polyphenol in tea, with antioxidant, anti-cancer, and anti-tumor activities. Its antioxidant activity is at least 100 times higher than that of vitamin C and 25 times higher than that of vitamin E. It can protect cells and DNA from damage. Some of the benefits of EGCG lie in its ability to scavenge (antioxidant) other oxygen free radicals.
EGCG is the main component of tea polyphenols and also the main component of green tea catechins. It accounts for 10-15% of the catechin content, and catechins include EGCG, EGC, ECG, EC, etc. Among them, the antioxidant activity is in the order of EC<ECG<EGC<EGCG
